Create an account to begin gathering data at the new facility. Deploy an agent to collect information from your devices.

How to add an MoonOne agent

  1. Go to Settings → Facilities in your account.

  2. Click Edit facility.

  3. Click Add MoonOne agent.

  4. Connect to your server.

  5. Launch the terminal to enter commands on your server.

  6. Paste installation script of the agent on your server following the instructions provided.

  7. Return to Moon and enter IP-ranges of your miners.

  8. Click Scan to initiate network scanning for miners located within the specified IP-ranges.

For successful detection and scanning of miners, ensure your MoonOne agent is connected to the same subnet as the miners, and input the correct IP range. `Miners need to be operational and not offline. `

Firewall or security software can block scans, so necessary network ports should be open and the agent whitelisted. Network issues may also affect the scan's performance.

The MoonOne agent system is designed with an automatic update feature, ensuring that users always have the latest enhancements and security patches without needing to manually intervene.

FAQ

Why are my miners not detected during the scan?

Ensure that the miners are powered on and accessible on the network. Also check the server with MoonOne agent has access to the devices you are looking for (currently we use following ports: 80, 443, 4028, 4111)

Why isn't my MoonOne Agent connected to the miners?

To discover miners, your MoonOne Agent server and miners need to be on the same local area network (LAN) subnet. Ensure they are within the same network range.

What should I do if data collection is inconsistent?

If you notice inconsistencies in data collection, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check Connectivity: Ensure the facility is properly connected to the network.

  2. Firewall Settings: Check that your firewall settings permit the agent to scan the network.

  3. Agent Status: Confirm that the agent is running and properly configured.

  4. Restart the Agent: Reinitialize the agent and attempt to scan again.

  5. Verify IP Range: Ensure the IP range entered is accurate.

What format of IP ranges can I input?

You can enter IP ranges in CIDR notation (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24), as a range (e.g., 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.100), or individually (e.g., 192.168.1.2). Addresses can be separated by a space, dash, or new line. Ensure the specified ranges cover your miners' network for an effective scan.

What happens if I enter the wrong IP range?

When defining the IP ranges for the scan, a simple mistake in syntax or using incorrect IP addresses can result in failure.

How to edit IP ranges?

To edit IP ranges, you need to navigate to the Settings tab in your account. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings → Facilities in your account.

  2. Click on Edit facility to access the facility settings.

  3. Select Edit Ranges for the desired agent to modify its IP address ranges.

  4. Input the new IP ranges using CIDR notation or dash-separated format.

  5. Save your changes to ensure the new IP ranges are applied.

How do I check the status of the agent?

To verify the current status of the agent or check for any updates, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Facility → Edit facility.

  2. Find the agent in the list. The system should display the current status.

Why is my MoonOne Agent offline?

If your MoonOne Agent is offline, you won't be able to initiate a scan. Ensure that the MoonOne Agent server is up and running.

How to open the terminal on my server?

If your server is located remotely, you will need to use a remote access protocol such as SSH (Secure Shell) to connect. You'll need the server's IP address and the necessary credentials. You can initiate an SSH session from your local machine's terminal using a command like ssh username@server_ip.

How to restart MoonOne agent on your server?

To restart the MoonOne agent, execute the following command:

sudo service moon-agent restart

Or:

  • Go to Settings → Facilities in your account.

  • Click on Edit facility to access the facility settings.

  • Click on Reinstall MoonOne agent

How to stop MoonOne agent on your server?

To stop the agent running on your server, execute the following command:

sudo service moon-agent stop

Can a firewall or security software block my MoonOne Agent scan?

Yes, firewalls or security software can block the MoonOne Agent scan by preventing certain network traffic. Ensure that the necessary ports are open and that the MoonOne Agent is whitelisted in any security software to allow the scan to proceed without being blocked. Check your security settings to prevent interference.

How do network issues affect my MoonOne Agent scan?

Network issues, such as high latency, packet loss, or network congestion, can lead to incomplete or failed scans. Make sure the network is stable and experiencing minimal interruptions by checking the connection quality and bandwidth availability. Reduce any unnecessary network load to improve scan reliability.

Can high CPU usage affect my MoonOne Agent scan?

High CPU usage on the server where the MoonOne Agent software is running can affect the scan's performance. Close any resource-intensive applications to free up system resources.

How is data security managed in the MoonOne agent?

Data security is a top priority for MoonOne. The agent employs advanced encryption protocols to protect data both in transit and at rest. Regular security audits and updates are conducted to identify and fix vulnerabilities, ensuring that sensitive information remains safe from unauthorized access.

Do I need to update the agent to keep it up-to-date?

No, the agent updates automatically. This ensures that the agent is always running the latest version without requiring manual intervention by the user.
