Mass firmware update

Remotely manage miners via the dashboard for mass or single factory resets. Use the mass action panel for multiple miners or the options' menu for a single miner.

Requirements for remote actions

Firmware update

To mass firmware update via the mass action panel:

  1. Go to Dashboard.

  2. Select miners from a single manufacturer by checking relevant boxes.

  3. Click Update firmware on the mass action panel.

  4. Select only one firmware version. For Antminer, you may also select tabs (Stock / Vnish).

  5. Click Confirm.

If selected devices include unsupported manufacturers:

The system does not support manufacturer firmware upgrades for: [Manufacturer1, Manufacturer2, ...]

To single firmware update:

To update a single miner, click on the three dots next to it, and select "Firmware update" from the dropdown menu. This option allows for individual update without going through the bulk process.

Firmware versions: stable and new

When selecting firmware for your devices, you might encounter terms such as "Stable" and "New." Here's what they mean:

  • Stable Firmware: This version has undergone extensive testing and is considered reliable for widespread use. It's the recommended choice for environments where system stability is crucial.

  • New Firmware: This version includes recent updates or features and is suitable for users willing to test the latest enhancements.

Firmware rollback considerations

  • Rollback Limitations: Officially, rolling back firmware is often unsupported, meaning once updated, you generally can't revert to a previous version. This is to maintain the integrity and security of the devices.

  • Testing Before Deployment: It's recommended to test new firmware on a single device first. If critical issues arise, contact support services to explore potential recovery options.

FAQ

Can I update multiple miners at once?

Yes, you can update multiple miners simultaneously by selecting the "Firmware update" option from the mass action panel. This feature allows you to apply firmware updates to several miners at once, streamlining the maintenance process. Ensure that all selected devices are compatible with the firmware version you're applying.

What do "Stable" and "New" mean?

By understanding these aspects, you can better manage firmware updates and ensure the smooth operation of your devices

  • Stable: Officially tested firmware versions recommended for production use.

  • New: Recently released versions that may include new features or fixes but haven’t undergone full validation across all models.

Do I need to stop mining before updating the firmware?

Not necessarily. Most firmware updates will temporarily pause mining automatically during the process and resume once complete.

How long does a firmware update take?

A typical firmware update takes between 2 and 10 minutes per device, depending on the miner model, network speed, and firmware size. In bulk updates, devices update in parallel.

Can I roll back to a previous firmware version?

In most cases, firmware rollback is not officially supported. We recommend testing new firmware on one device before mass deployment. If critical issues occur, contact support to explore recovery options.

Why don’t I see any firmware options available?

Possible reasons:

  • You’ve selected miners from different manufacturers or incompatible models.

  • There is no stable or new firmware available for the selected device(s).

Try narrowing your selection to a single model/manufacturer or updating devices individually.

What if a firmware update fails?

If a firmware update fails, try the following steps:

  1. Restart the miner and attempt the update again.

  2. Ensure that your network connection is stable.

  3. Contact support if the issue persists.
